Josh Waring Son Of Former ‘RHOC’ Star Laurie Peterson Arrested For Suspicion Of Attempted Murder

Josh Waring, son of former Real Housewives of Orange County star, Laurie Peterson, was arrested on Monday, for suspicion of attempted murder in the shooting of a man in Costa Mesa, CA. The Los Angeles Times reports that the arrest went down hours after the shooting, according to local police, who allege that Waring shot a 35-year-old man in the lower torso around 2:30 a.m., at the man’s home. Authorities arrested Waring after a police chase in Santa Ana, according to the Costa Mesa police. Police said that the shooting stemmed from a disagreement, but the reason remains undetermined.
“Apparently there had been a previous confrontation between [Waring] and the occupants of that residence earlier, and he had returned,” Costa Mesa police Lt. Paul Beckman said.
Paramedics transported the victim to a Santa Ana hospital with serious injuries, but he is expected to survive. When the police arrived at the man’s home, he identified Waring—who had fled the scene in a BMW SUV. According to police, an Orange County Sheriff’s Department helicopter spotted him at an intersection, and as officers closed in, Waring crashed the vehicle, took off on foot, and hid out in a business.
“After a brief standoff, he surrendered without further incident to the Santa Ana police,” Costa Mesa police said in a news release.
Waring, 27, was booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, vehicle theft, felony evading police, hit-and-run and assault and battery. Bail was set at $1 million. The Costa Mesa police found evidence linking Josh to the shooting in the SUV, but no gun was discovered.
Waring has been arrested several times, according to court records. Last May, he pleaded not guilty to felony drug and forgery charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. In 2008, Waring pleaded guilty to three felony counts and six misdemeanors related to drug use or possession. He pleaded guilty to a hit-and-run in 2008, battery in 2009, possession of drug paraphernalia in 2009, and resisting an officer and drug possession in 2015.
Longtime fans of The Real Housewives of Orange County will remember Josh’s mother, Laurie, who was on the Bravo show between 2006-2008. Lauri once worked for cast veteran, Vicki Gunvalson, as a single mother, and later married George Peterson in a lavish ceremony, on the show. Josh appeared on the show sporadically, during Lauri’s early years on Bravo. Lauri cited Josh’s addiction issues, as the reason she left the reality stage. Lauri returned briefly to the Housewives spotlight, during Season 8 of RHOC.
