After a long legal battle, the defamation lawsuit of Phaedra Parks vs Angela Stanton has been dismissed.

The case of Phaedra Parks vs Angela Stanton for defamation began September 2012, after Stanton wrote and published a book, “Lies of a Real Housewife: Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil,” in which she portrayed Phaedra as the mastermind of a criminal enterprise.

After years of legal maneuvering through various motions filed by Parks and Stanton, both parties have finally reached a mutual settlement. Stanton’s attorney released the following statement on June 2, explaining the judge’s decision. Many Real Housewives of Atlanta fans were eager to see Plaintiff Parks testify at trial on June 6, but as predicted, the likelihood of a trial actually happening was slim to none.

Phaedra’s husband, Apollo Nida, is currently serving an 8 year prison sentence on bank and identity fraud charges. However, throughout the Parks vs Stanton lawsuit, his wife is the one that was accused of “thwarting” justice and making “a mockery” of the legal system, after the reality star/attorney refused to answer attorneys’ questions about her husband’s criminal activities during a deposition in August 2014.

This case has dragged on long enough but had Parks seen her day in court, she had everything to lose — in terms of her reputation and future business prospects — by admitting to any criminal conduct as alleged by Stanton
