RECAP: ‘Little Women: NY’ — Jazmin Reveals A Shocking Secret About Katy [Season 2, Episode 3]

We begin this week’s Little Women: NY with a walk in the park with Jaz and Jason. Debby-downer-Dawn is making it impossible for anyone to like her and Jaz is contemplating cutting ties. Jason thinks Dawn resents Jazmin for taking her brother away. But fear not, Jason has a plan. He wants to show Dawn how a loving family should act. This has disaster written all over it. 

Lila considers herself the self-appointed Switzerland to Jaz and Dawn, so she stops by Dawn’s place to help. Dawn says it’s unrealistic that she and Jaz have to be friends. They have nothing in common and Dawn doesn’t like the colors she wears. Lila tells Dawn she lacks charm and manners. Go Lila! Lila also tells Dawn she needs to soften up and make the effort with Jaz.

It’s dinner time at Jason’s mom’s house. Surprise! Jaz is there and Dawn had no idea she was also invited. No surprise, Dawn’s not happy about it, but is she ever? Jason’s parents say they prefer their kids to live at home forever and Dawn insults them by saying no one has to live with anyone and how strange the family dynamic can be. We learn that Dawn’s mother didn’t talk to her sister for 26 years, so not getting along is the family norm to her. Dawn is picking up on the hidden agenda so she leaves in the middle of dinner. How rude.

The next day Jason drops by Dawn’s apartment to ask why he left so early. Debby-downer-Dawn says she didn’t want to linger around after being ambushed with Jaz. Dawn is sick of everyone putting their nose into her business. Jason says he couldn’t tell her Jaz would be there because then Dawn would have backed out. Called that right. Dawn tells Jason to mind his own business and to let Jazmin fight her own battles. Jason, for some reason, invites Dawn to go camping with the rest of the crew. This also has disaster written all over it.

Lila meets up with Katy for a pedicure. Katy points out that back in the day of the LP conventions Lila wasn’t nice to her. Lila says she wants to make it up to her and to let her know when she’s being rude. Katy gets a few painful baby kicks and Lila analyzes Katy’s life by making it all about her. They talk about being a daddy’s girl. They have the bond of baby daddy’s girls and losing their fathers. Katy starts to cry. Lila says she wants to be there for her and the baby.

Back at Jess’ apartment, Katy is struggling to assemble baby furniture when Jess walks in with a dog she’s just adopted. And guess what, Katy’s first assignment in motherhood is to dog sit Chi-Chi so Jess can go camping with the crew. Katy is not invited or thrilled.

It’s time to go camping! Rule #1 don’t put the Louis Vuitton bag on the ground. Rule #2 you can’t call shotgun because they aren’t in kindergarten. This is a three hour trip and it’s going to feel twice as long with Debby-downer-Dawn critiquing Jason’s driving the entire way.

The crew has arrived at Stoney Creek Farmstead and given a tour. It’s not exactly roughing it, more like glamping. After everyone picks their beds, they learn there aren’t any wild animals unless you count Dawn, so everyone feels safe – for now.

Katy calls her baby-daddy PJ and tells him she needs his love and support and to get his $hit together. PJ agrees he needs to pull his gear out of stupid and fly to NY to be there for Katy. Now Jess and Katy will each have dogs, oh boy!

Something is bothering Jazmin, but she doesn’t feel safe talking to the others with Dawn around. Good call. Jason has an activity which involves releasing lit lanterns to say goodbye to the bad vibes and hello to a good time. Debby-downer-Dawn asks if the lanterns are bio-degradable. Womp-waa. Jason makes a wish that fences will be mended and hearts will be bigger than they are. It takes Jason a few tries to get it going and not burn down the forest. He’s hopeful these good feelings will last the rest of the trip. Not likely.

Lila pranks Jason by wearing a wolf’s mask. Jason spills his tea all over himself and everyone has a good laugh – and bonus – Dawn doesn’t ruin it, but she does ask Jason if he’s always been such a scaredey cat. Lila states the obvious and tells Dawn she has no sense of humor.

The crew gets sticks from Dawn’s ass for toasting marshmallows. Debby-downer-Dawn says she can’t imagine putting a marshmallow on a stick and then eating it. Everyone laughs when Jess asks Dawn if she does anything for fun and Dawn says she works and makes money. Jess says how sad and there’s more to life. Dawn then tells Lila she needs to talk.

Although they’ve walked away, you can hear every word because the two start yelling. Dawn tells Lila she doesn’t have her back. Lila says she’s not going to jump in when Dawn has no manners and can’t laugh at herself. Dawn reaches into her cliché bag that she packed and says, a friend to all is a friend to none and there’s no I in team and but there’s a U in ‘see you next Tuesday.’ As Dawn stomps off, Lila screams after her that it’s hard to defend an asshole. So true.

The next day the crew has fun with a redneck slip-and-side. Everyone but Dawn, that is. Jazmin and Dawn go for a walk, and now that Dawn feels ostracized, she is a little more open to becoming friends with Jaz. Dawn says it takes a strong person to apologize to her. Jaz doesn’t want to be best friends, but they are family and need to support each other. Dawn says she’s nauseous over constantly arguing and wants this to work. They hug it out.

As they get ready to leave, Jaz shows everyone what has been bothering her, except Jess who steps away to call Katy. It’s a video of Jess and Katy smoking a cigarette after belly dancing last week. The group is shocked. The baby already is facing huge challenges and they can’t believe Katy would add this to the list.
