Little Women NY Season 2

We are back in the big apple with Little Women: New York. Jaz is still looking for a roommate after being rejected by her sister-in-law, Dawn. Her husband David is moving back to Florida for work and Jaz wants to stay in NY to further her lack of acting career. Jaz stops by new girl Jess’ place to see if she’s open to having a roommate. Problem is, she already has one, Katie. Plus, another on the way if her boyfriend doesn’t swoop into save the day.

Katie tells Jaz that she knows David and the new and not-so improved Dawn. They go over Dawn’s list of attributes which are jealousy, judgment, and being a hater. Who wants to do something fun? Jaz suggests the group go dancing so Katie can meet the crazy crew.

Jason and boyfriend DJ are enjoying a rooftop brunch. Jason’s still not speaking to his roommate Lila after she made him kick Terra out of the housewarming party. Oh well. Jason shares that he thought at first DJ was getting paid to hang out with him. DJ explains he wouldn’t come to New York if he weren’t happy with Jason. They each make each other feel special, but not “special” special.

Across town, Jess has reached out to Dawn to have lunch, hoping extra judgment won’t be on the menu. Dawn explains she only wants what’s best for Jaz, they are from a small community, and the world isn’t fair. Plus, there are more respectable careers than midget wrestling. Like being a paralegal. Dawn feels it’s their responsibility to eliminate all of the demeaning rolls for little people. Jess says, eff that, I’m going to live my life for me. Dawn believes this is very serious and two people have died in midget wrestling. Jess missed the memo that Dawn is the Jesus of little people. Get down off your soap box via step stool, Dawn. Jess leaves because she understands there’s no getting through to Debby-downer-Dawn.

The following morning, Jason makes a peace offering breakfast for Lila and brings it to her in bed. Lila is over their fight because tragedy has struck with the passing of her father after his battle of lung disease is lost. This does put the pettiness of Terra into perspective. Lila can’t get out of bed due to her grief, but that’s what having a great roommate like Jason is for. He’s there to help.

At the park, Katie meets up with Terra who is still in NYC. Terra says she’s still trying to lose the last 15 pounds from her pregnancy and this makes Katie feel better because she’s only gained 15 total. Katie has not had the official dwarfism tests, but the measurements show the unborn baby has a bigger head and shorter limbs. Terra asks about PJ and Katie shares they are on a break. Tears fall as she explains she doesn’t want her baby to grow up without a father. Terra says she wasn’t married when she first found out about her pregnancy, but then the pressure caved on Joe, and voila, she’s now married.

Little Women NY Season 2

It’s moving day for David. Jaz doesn’t want him to go, nor does she want to go with him. She promises not to let his sister Dawn drive her crazy while he’s gone. Spoiler alert: mission failed. This is the first time Jaz will be completely on her own. Thanks goodness her determination and dreams are bigger than she is.

Jaz drops by Jason’s apartment to talk things over. Jason is surprised to hear David already left for Florida. Jaz recaps Dawn’s move-in rejection and lecture. Jason is not shocked by this. The good news is, Jason and Lila have an extra bedroom and he invites Jaz to move in with them. Having already overstepped his boundaries once, they call Lila to ask her permission/blessing. It was so smart of Jaz to tell Lila that Dawn kicked her to the curb because that put Lila in the position of hero. She says yes!

Katie has an appointment with an OB/Gyn in NYC and Jess is accompanying her. Dr. Tepper has delivered little babies before, so that’s good. We listen to the heartbeat and see the ultra sound. Unfortunately, the baby has extra digits on both hands. Dawn and Katie are confused by the doctor’s use of digits for fingers. PJ’s father was born with 12 fingers, but think of the advantages in math class. Dr. Tepper says it can be removed easily if there is no bone. The bummer is, Katie doesn’t have the $3,000 for her delivery and it now hits her that babies cost money. Really? It just now hit you?

Little Women NY Season 2

Jaz and Jason decorate Lila’s bedroom with pink balloons and flowers to cheer her up when she arrives. Dawn drops by to inform everyone that she knows better than anyone what Lila is going through, having lost both parents. Lila loves her room and is grateful for her friends’ love. Then Lila says how happy she is to have new sister Jaz living with her. Dawn says that although she thinks Jaz should live on her own, she’s not very happy that Jaz has found a safe roof over her head. Lila points out that she’s thirty years old and living with two roommates. Dawn backpedals and says that at least Lila has lived on her own in the past. What Dawn is really saying is, she’s lonely so everyone else must be, too.

Jaz is moving in and the trio have already worked out a plan. Jaz will cook, Lila will clean, and Jason will eat. Jaz proposes the group go belly dancing to have fun times with their hips. Jason can’t wait. #not. Debby-downer-Dawn is first to judge arrive. She can’t believe it when Katie walks in and asks what brought Katie to the city. Katie says that she’s giving her boyfriend time to make sure this is what he wants. When they learn PJ is average size, they all start discussing how he’s probably not going to run after Katie.

Dawn then asks how Katie and Jess met. No surprise, they met wrestling. Dawn hoists herself back up on her soap box, but Jaz says people should either support their friends or shut up. Jess tells Dawn to get out of her ignorant mind. Dawn says Jaz doesn’t understand the difference between opportunity and exploitation. Hello, Dawn, you are on a show about little people. Dawn denies ignorance and says she thinks very highly of herself. You don’t say!

Little Women NY Season 2

Bring on the belly dancer! But is this exploitation of a woman dancing with candles on her head? Not sure, but let’s applaud her abilities instead of tearing her down. The group gets up to learn the dance. Afterwards, Jaz asks Dawn to go the bathroom. Jaz calls her out as a hypocrite because she says she’s worried about Jaz, and yet, when she came to her for help, Dawn wasn’t so worried anymore. Is she an in-law or a sister? When Dawn starts lecturing again, Jaz says she’s done with their friendship. Lila walks up to help mediate, but Dawn keeps interrupting, then leaves. Yay! Let the party begin.
