The body of Matthew Genovese, a relative of Manzo’d With Children star, Vito Scalia, was found in the Hudson River, after his family reported him missing, on Monday. Hoboken Police Chief Ken Ferrante confirmed the grim discovery, during a Tuesday press conference.

Vito Scalia is married to Real Housewives of New Jersey alum, Caroline Manzo’s daughter, Lauren Manzo. The couple wed over the summer.

The deceased young man, Matthew Genovese, 24, was last seen leaving Hoboken NJ’s, McSwiggan’s Pub Saturday night, and heading east towards the river, for unknown reasons. His friends saw him leave the pub, saying that he was headed home, which was in the opposite direction. Matthew was originally from the Bronx, and had been living in Hoboken for about a year.

Genovese’s family reported him missing on Monday, after he didn’t show up at his job on Wall Street. The police found his wallet with cash, credit cards, and his ID during the search, in the snow near where his body was later found, close to the waterfront, around Pier A. The police chief said that Matthew was wearing the last clothes he was reportedly seen in, a gray Fordham University T-shirt with maroon text, tan khaki pants, and Timberland boots. Chief Ferrante would not speculate as to why Genovese was found in the water, and an investigation is ongoing with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Caroline Manzo, Vito’s mother-in-law, took to social media to spread the word of Matthew’s disappearance, on Monday.

“Any help would be appreciated. This is a relative of my son-in-law @vitoscalia3,” she wrote in a post that was retweeted by her daughter and Vito’s wife Lauren Manzo Scalia, as well as Andy Cohen.

Albie and Christopher Manzo also joined in the search effort, via social media.

Caroline later shared the sad update with her followers, “Thank you so much for sharing and prayers. Unfortunately this story didn’t end as we had hoped. [Matthew’s] body was found earlier today. May God rest his soul and give his family the strength they need to get through this tragedy.”
