This season on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kenya Moore has been focused on family closure. She’s mended fences with her father, but still remains estranged from her mother. When Kenya knocked on her mother’s door, the woman wouldn’t even answer, leaving Kenya out in the cold once more.

“I have always considered my aunt to be the most compassionate member of my mother’s family. However, when it comes to my treatment from them, rarely has she or anyone else said or done anything that is sensible, rational, or logical… I never would have dreamed that she would take that stance and place blame on me for knocking on my mother’s door.”

Kenya feels she’s been unfairly treated, even abused, by her mother. Other than Aunt Lori, Kenya has received little sympathy from her family.

“My mother’s family constantly attacks me for wanting closure, but they never attacked my mother when she would relentlessly mistreat me in their presence. Often times they have made me feel like they resent the fact that I was even born, treating me as an inconvenience rather than an innocent child.”

Cynthia Bailey’s friendship has been a source of comfort.

“…Cynthia reacted in a way I’ve always wanted my family to react to a child being abused in front of them. I have always wanted them to get mad, get angry, and intervene. However, the dysfunction just continued, and I have always carried the brunt of the pain on my shoulders.”

Kenya has also received an outpouring of kindness from fans of the show.

“The beautiful thing is that I know I am not alone. I have read so many of your stories and each one breaks my heart over and over. The best thing about being in this fight is that I am not alone. Thank you for your stories, your experiences and your life. Please be encouraged to be strong and continue to be brave.”

In happier news, Moore Manor is getting close to completion.

“All my building framing, plumbing and electrical, and HVAC has been completed. Sheetrock is going up now. Every day the house is transforming, and it’s all very exciting! I am so anxious to move in that I pick up a tool and get to work myself sometimes. Just call me Builder Bobb!”

So what’s your take on Aunt Lori’s defense of Kenya’s mother? Do you think Kenya had the right to confront her mom one more time?
