Sister Wives is on hiatus, and to keep the plural fun going, I am kicking off a series, where individual pieces will focus on one member of the Brown bunch.  It will be an opportunity to get to know each cast member a little better…and after all, snark is meant to be multiplied, not divided. I am a bit sick of Meri at the moment, so I am going to start with Janelle.

Jenelle was born in 1969, and was not raised in a polygamist family.  She spiritually wed Kody Brown, in 1993. They share six children, Logan, Madison, Hunter, Garrison, Gabriel, and Savanah. She values career, and would rather work, than stay home with her kids.  She was the second wife added to the Brown crew, and described a predominantly intellectual connection to Kody.

Five Must-Knows for Any Rookie Janelle Groupie

1.  Janelle used to be married to Meri’s brother, which made Kody her brother-in-law. The marriage only lasted a couple of years, and many wonder if Janelle becoming smitten with Kody’s brain, busted it up. Three months before Kody and Janelle were spiritually joined, Janelle’s mother married Kody’s father. Kody and Janelle were step-siblings when they made the coupling spiritual, and they weren’t even from Arkansas.

2.  Meri and Janelle kinda hate each other. After living two decades of sister-wifery, they now claim that they want to take steps towards healing  their relationship. The basic dirt is that Mare was a royal bitch to Janelle when she turned a monogamous marriage, into a harem on training wheels. Janelle then had the nerve to get knocked-up first, eventually spitting out six Kody-spawn, which really upped Mare’s irritated and jealous fury. Janelle felt unwelcome in their first shared home, and both of the wives admit to glaring missteps in how they handled the adjustment.

3. Janelle once flew the coop, and escaped the Brown compound. After having her fifth child, she sunk into postpartum depression, and she and Mare were still fighting like dogs.  She took her kids, and left the cult for about two years.  She established her own home, and was supporting her family, but Kody wooed her back, with a move to Utah, and a big house.  In a nutshell, she got a taste of freedom from the Brown web of ick, and CAME BACK.

4.  Janelle, like most of the gaggle, struggles with her weight.  She bravely  shared a brief weight loss journey on the show, where she successfully lost an average of about a pound a month.  She was actually making great progress for awhile, but recently appears to have relapsed back into her signature beached state.

5.  There is no need be concerned about Janelle’s placid, zoned-out countenance.  That is normal…at least for Janelle.

Janelle tends to be the most masculine of the wives, admitting to not being into decorating, shopping, or flash mob participation. Her fashion sense sits comfortably between sensible librarian, and draped goddess receptionist.

We wave good-bye to Janelle for now with a few shorts, which highlight a few special #2 moments. The first involves an appreciation dinner, where we see the Browns thank all of their polygamy cheerleaders.

This next clip reveals Janelle’s shy nature, and the strategies she leans on to avoid hanging out in public, with her sister wives.

This next clip is my personal favorite. It reveals Janelle’s true unsupported state, and a rare shot of Kody’s utter lack of leadership in the home. As a bonus, it’s pretty hilarious, and the flashes of giant laundry piles littering the hallway, add a festive touch.
