The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Cynthia Bailey, ever the optimist, had such big hopes for her eyewear party. She wanted all the ladies to don sunglasses while singing Kumbaya.

“Regardless of everything that I was going through in my relationships with them and my marriage…I wanted to put all past issues aside for the night and the gossip about my marriage to take a back seat. I was excited for everyone to see my collection, and have a great time!”

Cynthia, don’t you remember what these get-togethers are like? They’re not a time to put away hard feelings. They’re a time to publicly air all grievances.

“I wanted the focus of my Cynthia Bailey Eyewear launch event to be all about my fashion shades, and let’s just say the shade was real!”

The next day, Cynthia addressed her breakdown over her relationship with Peter

“…Peter and I had heated words at the eyewear event and also later that night when I got home. When I woke up the next morning, he had already left for Charlotte. I was still very upset about how he behaved at the party…I just broke down.”

On a brighter note, Cynthia and Phaedra are trying to put past hostilities behind them (i.e. Cynthia spreading rumors about Phaedra and Mr. Chocolate).

“…A while back, I brought some information that Apollo told Peter to the group regarding her marriage that really hurt her. I am deeply sorry for doing that. …I applaud her for…being woman enough to put our past issues in the past, therefore allowing us to move forward. Forgiveness is the only way to stop the hurt.”

Mostly, I think Phaedra needs allies this season, hence her fence-mending overtures. With Nene out of the picture and her relationship with Kandi on rocky ground, Phaedra didn’t have much choice but to make amends.

And what does Cynthia think about Porsha and Duke?

“I am just as excited for Porsha’s new relationship as she is! I am also a lover of love and a hopeless romantic. …My advice would be to go for it, but take your time. True love isn’t going anywhere, no matter how fast you move. Always follow your heart but take your brain with you.”

So what do you think? Can Cynthia and Peter’s marriage weather the storm? And will Cynthia and Phaedra be able to play nicely throughout the season?
