Messer lost primary custody of her twin girls, Aliannah and Aleeah, to their father, Corey Simms. She opened up to US Weekly, to share her side of the conflict, and is vowing to win back joint custody of the 5-year old twins. On October 7th, a West Virginia judge awarded Simms weekday custody, leaving Leah, 23, only weekends with her twins, a ruling Leah describes as “a slap in the face.”
“I have done so much to become a better person, it was like a slap in the face at first,” she told Us at the time. “It hurt me. It made me angry.”
Messer completed a 30-day stint in a treatment facility, in June, citing issues with depression and anxiety. Both of her ex-husbands, have publicly shared suspicions that blame alleged prescription drug abuse, as the real culprit for the behavior that led to the treatment. Leah outlines her plan to refute Simms’ school related accusations. “I talked to the superintendent,” she adds, “and I’m sending them the [time-stamped] pictures I took to prove the girls were not tardy. They’re going to take them off.” (School officials could not be reached for comment.)
