RECAP: Married to Medicine “Simone Spies on Her Son’s First Date” [Episode 7]
This week’s episode of “Married to Medicine” was chock full of good advice from random people. We meet up with Heavenly, Jackie and Simone at a restaurant. They are throwing shade at “the wives” because they are scrapping it out like they always do. Unlike the three of them who are real doctors and who never embarrass themselves. Ever. Heavenly is passionate about wanting the Quad vs. Lisa situation shut down because they are both wrong.
When Heavenly walks away from the table, leaving her phone behind, she receives a phone call from a man who is not Big Daddy. Simone picks up the phone to investigate just as Heavenly returns. Girl is pissed. Do you not know she’s a “relationship expert,” y’all. That’s why a man who is not Big Daddy is calling. He was in need of Heavenly’s relationship expertise. Get your mind out of the gutter.
Over at Toya’s, she’s trying to get the kids to bed. She joins Dr. Eugene in their bedroom and tells him that she’s not feeling his commitment to the Fit is the New It program. One of the kids is whining so Eugene goes to check on him. But really he goes to the kitchen for a late night snack. What Eugene doesn’t know is that earlier, Toya set up the baby monitor to conduct kitchen surveillance, pointing the camera straight at the refrigerator. But before she can bust him in the act, she has to tell one of her adorable boys to go back to bed. In the kitchen, Eugene doesn’t care that he’s been caught. He’s a grown ass man, in his grown ass house, and unless you want him to film your shopping habits, Toya, you best let this go.
Lisa and Dr. Darren are at a restaurant. He is annoyed that he has to discuss the Quad situation on his day off. Lisa would like Darren to take it down a level and enjoy being with his wife, but let’s face it, Darren looks like he’d like to be anywhere else. They are joined by their attorney, David, who gives the first piece of advice in a new section called: Words to Live By. David’s advice about the Quad situation is to, “Settle. Why? Because your attorney’s going to make a lot of money, and you’re still going to be angry at the end of the day.” Lisa vows that if she’s sued, she will have no choice but to counter-sue Quad.
Simone is excited to pick up her little sis, Carmen, at the airport. Simone shares that her son Miles will be going on his first date during her visit. According to Simone, this is the child that she thought would never stop sucking her boob. Poor Miles, at this moment he is getting teased by friends.
There are two quick scenes with Dr. Jackie planning phase 2 of her fitness program that will include a fun, fun, fun, relay and then Heavenly getting caught by her husband while “researching” Tinder. Her plan is to develop an app so others can have what she has for a price because she is a “relationship expert.”
In the kitchen with Simone and Carmen, we receive our second installment of Words to Live By. Simone tells her sister about the family tree and the alcoholic empty branch called Dad. Simone wishes her kids knew her father, but Carmen has a more realistic image of their father. Carmen tells Simone, “Don’t bring negative energy to your family. Love him from a distance and say a prayer for him.”
At the relay race, Dr. Jackie is thirty minutes late and Dr. Eugene is not having any of that. He’s just mad because there’s no pizza or ribs, just fruit and vegetables. Heavenly thinks Simone is lazy because she likes to eat and eat and not workout and just needs discipline. Jackie finally arrives with a bullhorn and the race is on. They giggle and run and have different activities and tasks to perform at different stations. It looks like Quad and Jill win, but oh snap, they didn’t do all of the activities, so the actual winners are Toya and Eugene. Congrats you two!
It’s time for Miles’ first date. The embarrassment begins with Simone’s rejection of the clothes he’s chosen to wear. Simone and Carmen take the kids to a burger joint, and then drive away to dress in a ridiculous disguises. One wore a huge hat and the other a scarf and dark sunglasses, bringing more attention to themselves that if they’d put on two clown suits. With binoculars in hand, Simone and Carmen eavesdrop on the kids’ conversation. Like I said, at this very moment, poor Miles is getting teased relentlessly, but he was a proper southern gentleman on his first date.
Quad pays a visit to her attorney and she’s chosen the fabulous (in her mind) Phaedra Parks, star of Real Housewives of Atlanta! Is this woman really an attorney, btw? Quad is there to spill the tea and wants Lisa Nicole to suffer because this is not how a doctor’s wife should behave. Seriously? Could someone bring Quad a ladder so she can climb down her high-horse.
This brings us to the third and final installment of Words to Live By. Believe it or not, they are from Phaedra. (I’ll wait while you get up from the floor.) After Phaedra explains to Quad that this is both a criminal and civil matter, she cautions about pursuing Lisa criminally. Phaedra says, “You’ve got to take the high road and think about peoples’ kids because they’re innocent.” And Phaedra should know. But Quad doesn’t feel that way, her words to live by aren’t words to live by. She says, “Mama should have thought about that.” Ouch, girl, that’s cold.
