Andy Cohen Tweets Loving GoodBye To NeNe Leakes “Love NeNe and She’s Always Welcome Back”
It’s official this time not a rumor, NeNe Leakes won’t be returning to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” On Monday, NeNe took her Instagram account to announce her departure from the franchise she helped launch.
This is so hard for me to type! I cry as I do so! I am so Grateful for all the love and laughs! Thank you so much to everyone that has watched and supported me over the years on this amazing platform! With lots of thoughts and prayer I’ve decided to step out on faith and not fear #nomoRHOA4me”
As reported, the pioneer ‘housewife’ spoke exclusively to PEOPLE Magazine about her departure.
“This was definitely a hard decision for me. Me and my husband [Gregg Leakes] have been going back and forth on it for weeks now. But my contract is up and I just think this is the right time. This is my opportunity to spread my wings and do different things.”
After the announcement was made, “Real Housewives” mastermind and creator, Andy Cohen expressed his love for NeNe and made it clear that the door will always be open to the former RHOA star,
Cohen’s response to Leakes’ departure is vastly different from when “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, Brandi Glanville announced her departure. You may have forgotten Andy’s response to Glanville’s departure…that’s because there wasn’t any. #Crickets
NeNe responded to Cohen with hearts and teary smileys.
NeNe claims she decided to leave Bravo’s hit show to focus on other TV projects which includes her reality show with Kim Zolciak, “NeNe and Kim: The Road to Riches.” Leakes also has plans to film a scripted show. She teased that she’s filming a series this week with “a big legend.”
“I’m actually going to be doing a new primetime television show with a big legend. All of my fans will get to see me be really happy, witty and funny and tell all of those one liners that I always have said on Housewives.”
Although most of the drama on the show stemmed from NeNe, she maintains she won’t miss it.
“I feel a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. There were times when I was a target. I won’t miss the negativity.”
Naturally, NeNe couldn’t leave with her dignity entirely in tact. The RHOA OG made sure to throw some shade at her fellow costars, Cynthia Bailey, Kandi Burruss, Kenya Moore, and Claudia Jordan.
“I think some of the girls will be happy. They always felt like I was the star, and they were never able to really shine with me there, so here’s their opportunity to shine.”
As NeNe would say, “Girl BYE!”
