Breaking News: Kim Richards Pleads NOT Guilty to Charges of Resisting Arrest and Battery
Breaking News — “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” star Kim Richards, 50, has pled NOT guilty to the three misdemeanor charges she’s facing after getting arrested on April 16 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Due to the reality star being in rehab, her attorney Robert Shapiro, had an associate appear on Richards behalf to enter her not guilty plea today in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
According to the Beverly Hills police department, officers responded to reports of a possible fight at approximately 1:30 am on April 16. Hotel security reported that an “intoxicated female” — Kim Richards — had caused a disturbance at a hotel restaurant and was asked to leave. While being escorted from the hotel, Richards asked to use the bathroom, then refused to come out, according to the police report.
Officers forced entry to the bathroom and promptly took Richards into custody shortly after 2 am. “Ms. Richards was displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication including slurred speech and belligerent insolent behavior cursing at the officers and passively resisted arrest,” the police report indicated. After being transported for booking, police say, Richards “kicked one of the officers in the leg.” Richards was issued a citation and released.
The three misdemeanor charges she’s facing: Resisting arrest, Public intoxication and Battery on a peace officer.
District Attorney Leila Tahmassebi, offered a plea deal consisting of three years summary probation and 30 days in jail or 30 days community labor plus restitution. The plea deal also includes 52 Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings. Tahmassebi also handed over discovery to Richards’ legal team, which included a DVD.
The judge also ordered that the former child star also stay far away from the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Richards’ is due back in LA Superior Court on July 16, and the judge has ordered she must appear.
Last week, we reported, Richards was fired from her reality television gig with Bravo as a full-time housewife and may only make a few cameo appearances.
Kim has starred on RHOBH since the show’s first season and has struggled with alcohol addiction issues.
