RECAP: Married to Medicine “Background Check Yourself ” [Episode 1]

The ladies of “Married to Medicine” season 3 kicked off with a B-A-N-G! The episode opens with a brief catch-up on all the ladies. Up first is Dr. Heavenly, having breakfast with her kids. Lisa Nicole is working at her new boutique. Both Dr. Simone and Dr. Jackie are meeting with patients. Toya is at home in her new “rented” house, gearing up for Halloween. According to Toya, life is great with her new house and kids. The only problem she has is her house is too big! Why is Toya renting a big ole house in the first place? Why not “own” something she can afford?

Her hubby, Dr. Eugene enters the room, Toya comments that she wants them to have a grown up Halloween party, now that they live in a mansion. She explains that she wants to host a big party to rub her rented palace in the ladies faces. Eugene tells her that she should just enjoy her things, not show them off. Eugene is clearly annoyed by Toya’s blatant need to put on airs, and doles out a dose of reality when he reminds her of their expenses…a bigger house and private school tuition. A budget to #TackyToya is a form of spousal abuse! Eugene brings up the guest list, and wants to invite Simone and Cecil. With some apprehension, Toya relents and agrees. Toya’s husband seems really frustrated with his wife’s behavior. Keeping up with the Joneses has NEVER been more blatantly evident, and always trying to impress people has to be exhausting. 

Next, Dr. Jackie meets with her personal trainer, Al in her office. The new improved Jackie says she won’t let anyone talk over her (this season). Dr. Jackie’s passion for health leads her to start a fitness program. Unknown to her friends, Jackie will be including all of them and their spouses. She says she plans to take it by force. She’s also going to include some of her patients if the program is successful.

Heavenly and Simone chit-chat on their way to pick up their kids (Alaura and Michael) from school and Toya’s Halloween party is discussed. Simone says life is great and business is booming. She explains she has no desire to be friends with Toya. Simone tells Heavenly she was not invited and could care less about attending Tacky Toya’s party. Simone reflects back on Toya’s ratchet behavior at last season’s reunion where Toya accused Simone of being a bad mother and tried to fight her. Heavenly says Toya has diarrhea of the mouth and does her best to bring the ladies together.

Next up is Quad, and this season she’s pimping wigs in addition to her ridiculous puppy couture line. She’s at a doggie photo shoot and her hubby, Gregory shows up to support his wife. Quad is throwing out gay lingo quips by the minute #Ms.WannabeTamarBraxton. Dr. G says, “Werk it hunty!” in a high-pitched voice, as Quad twirls and prances like a fool for the cameras. Her fashions are flea market chic at best.

We mosey on over to Lisa Nicole, who’s struggling to not be boring. Lisa Nicole is getting ready for Toya’s Halloween party, while chitchatting with her her hubby, Darren. In a TH, Lisa Nicole reveals that Darren cheated last year but “they went to counseling” and “did the work,” so things are all good now #GirlBye! Lisa Nicole explains that Quad is UPSET that she ran a background check on her. Lisa Nicole says she was considering helping her out, but likes to know who she’s getting into business with first, and calls it due diligence #ThatsSmartBusiness. She says Quad has a messy background, and Darren doesn’t like messes. Darren’s expression asks, “didn’t I tell you not to talk to me on camera about this foolishness?”

It’s party time and all the couples are getting ready. Toya’s glam team is applying her make-up, while her hubby slaves away preparing the food and setting up the party. Eugene comments that this is typical of their parties – she’s upstairs getting dolled up and he’s doing all the work. Toya lives the life! Heavenly and Damon are getting ready for the party. She has a hospital gown on with a fake bootie and her daughter comments she’s acting crazy #OutofTheMouthsofBabes!

Simone, Jackie, and their spouses roll up to the party together, and as they arrive Simone drops a gem, “The rented house…I mean, the haunted house.” #Shadeeeee!!! At the party, Darren and Lisa Nicole arrive. Lisa Nicole joins the shadefest and says “this house is gigantic and the upkeep is probably as much as the rent.” Quad arrives, and thought it would be a good idea to dress as a show girl. It’s a Halloween party, not Vegas! Her costume shows her lack of creativity and confidence to follow the theme. 

Toya thinks Lisa and Darren’s costumes don’t go with the theme of the party. Kari Wells is also there, and  Heavenly and Damon arrive. All the guests are greeted with a playful diagnosis, and prescription to go along with the theme (haunted hospital). The party is off to a decent start, and things seem to be going well. The food is less than stellar, and Simone takes another well deserved crack at Toya’s hostess skills and snarks, “Toya ran out of money by the time I got to the food.”

Quad and Toya go outside for a chat about background-check-gate. Toya wants to hear Quad’s side, because Lisa Nicole has already told all of the ladies her side. Quad says that Lisa can disappear like dust and is done. Quad tells her that Lisa ran a background check on her and explains that she doesn’t know where it came from. Quad tells Toya that there was no business between them and no reason for it. Heavenly joins the ladies, and Quad comments that she’s going to set the record straight. She says Lisa was f-d up for running a background check on her. Heavenly chimes in, asking Quad if there’s something in her past that she wants to hide. Lisa comes over and remarks that everyone knows about her past.

Quad explains that it’s not that she’s hiding something, it’s that Quad thought she was her friend and calls it the ultimate betrayal. Lisa then explains that she routinely runs background checks on people she does business with. Toya is worried that they’re going to fight and tear up her “rented” house. Then Lisa says she’s emotional and unpredictable, and Quad agrees. Quad decides that she will do a background check on Lisa, and see how it comes out. See now this is going to get messy real fast!

Lisa says she never exposed her stuff, and Quad comments that there is nothing to expose. Lisa says Quad’s background check is thick as a book (38 pages to be exact). Can we get Quad and Lisa Nicole replaced?!?

Before I know it, Simone and Toya are at each other’s throats. The reunion insults are rehashed, and Toya clarifies, “I don’t talk about anything, I do it.” Simone took that as a threat and the gloves came off. Simone lets Toya have it! She makes it clear that she’s not going to let anyone put their hands on her and she will NOT allow Toya to threaten her…not even in her rented house #Bloop!

Heavenly chimes in, that “she won’t touch her.” Simone says she doesn’t associate with b*tches who think that’s okay. Jackie asserts that they got Simone started, and comments– Jesus keep me near the cross.Simone says that they can’t move forward, because no one wants to admit their mistakes.She says Toya is stank nasty.
