#RHONJ Star, Melissa Gorga Shows Amber Marchese Support As She Battles Breast Cancer
While the future of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” hangs in the balance, Amber Marchese has bigger challenges to tackle. She is currently going through her second battle with breast cancer, and cast-mate Melissa Gorga, has reached out in support. In late April, Melissa tweeted,
Amber responded in appreciation, and Melissa reciprocated, tweeting back fond wishes to Amber and her mother.
Amber recently confirmed that the breast cancer had returned, and she is facing another round of treatment, including surgery, radiation, and drug therapy. Amber had a double mastectomy after her first diagnosis in 2009, and has shared that the percentage of recurrence in like patients is very small, at less than 5%.
Amber and Melissa actually have a friendly history, as party pals in their twenties, and although they lost touch for a few years, Melissa was a welcoming presence when Amber was cast on the 6th season of “Housewives.” Melissa sent Amber a congratulatory tweet when hearing the news, warmly welcoming her aboard. Although their friendship struggled on the show, bigger concerns have clearly replaced the petty drama that Bravo reality breeds. No announcement has been made about the show’s questionable return, and Amber has commented that she remains unsure if she will be asked back.
We wish Amber all the best as she bravely faces her future.
