Bethenny Frankel Defends Sonja Morgan! “I Genuinely Didn’t Want to Upset Sonja”
Fine! I’ll go on record stating that I was not happy that Bethenny came back. Boy was I wrong. Most of the moments of insight and hilarity (and genuine tv) have come from this woman and I am now all on board with her return. I think the pre-return comments from the other wives were clearly unfair. If we could get at least two more cast members like Dorinda and Bethenny, I think we could safely dump those other three housewives who add almost nothing to the show. She reflects on the trip to AC:
“When put in context, I suppose I understand how Heather was so pissed to have to stand outside. Evidently, she has carried Sonja into her bed after a crazy night on many occasions. In fairness to Sonja, she probably doesn’t remember those nights, so she might not see the connection. I could go on about this for days, but then you’d fall asleep. You decide if you think it’s a big deal. Maybe she was banging an intern and needed privacy. Who cares really?”
Simple. Perfect! Who really cares? I understood Heather’s point about not being able to take her kiddo to school, but outside of that? Too much energy was wasted, in my opinion, looking for something else to fight about.
“BUT I was overwhelmed when I got in that limo. It hadn’t cracked noon, and we were mainlining Skinnygirl Cocktails like it was our job. Oh wait; it is my job.”
She brings so much to the show, I’m even on board with the endless SkinnyGirl discussions. BRING IT! Just make sure to bring all of that other fun stuff with you! You know, knocking the other wives on their heels for the tomf–kery!
“Poor Sonja. She had a rough one, and I genuinely didn’t want to upset her. I definitely have a perspective, and I definitely shared it. Maybe the truth hurts, and maybe it isn’t my job to tell her the truth. For me, repetition can be maddening. Sonja likes to drive a point home but somehow gets lost on the ride home and takes a lot of circuitous turns. Not much to say.”
I agree every step of the way about the repetition, but even with Bethenny’s reputation for being brazen, she was kinder to Sonja than the others have been so I enjoyed the discussion. I can’t remember anyone saying anything as kind as Bethenny in the last several years. As much as they whine about her, Bethenny has kind things to say about them:
“As far as gambling, I was a real loser. I used to love gambling when I was broke, because I would just get further in the hole. Now that I have some money and know how hard it is to earn, I don’t love it as much. The amount I lose is annoying, and the amount I’d win couldn’t change my life. Kristen definitely had beginner’s luck, which made me happy! Carole kept betting on my bet, which was the wrong caboose to attach to. She has a great attitude overall.”
Bethenny teases us with more to come:
“It’s starting to get good; this is the turning point. You will love this on so many levels. I sure did, and these bitches and I do get crazy.”
WHAT? We need more details. Give us MORE! The show hasn’t been this good in years. Even the slow phase has been better than anything we’ve seen in some time.

I’m an exasperated soap fan who keeps hanging on – waiting for the daytime I once loved to return to its former glory! Hey, it doesn’t hurt to have a dream. I learned to love soaps thanks to my wonderful mother and grandmother. I’ll always have fond memories of daytime, most especially of ‘Another World’, my first stoap love. The ever great, but sadly defunct, daytime shows like Ryan’s Hope, Search for Tomorrow, The Doctors, Loving, and many others keep a special place in my heart, as well.
