Kim Richards’ interview with Dr. Phil McGraw is set to air today, with “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star facing the music after her drunken meltdown and subsequent arrest. Kim’s only son Chad has not been shy about spilling the real truth, coloring details and confirming suspicions that the outside world has suspected for some time. Chad was the one who was heard making the assertion that his mother’s problems extend past alcohol, and that pills and pot play roles in Richards‘ addiction struggles. Chad is speaking up again, and this time, I think I can hear the viewers cheering from here.
US Weekly received preview clips and excerpts on Monday, revealing some juicy details about Richards drunken rampage, arrest, and the dramatic and revealing follow-up interview. Kim admitted to having a “good sized drink”, then making the decision to stop at the Polo Lounge in the swanky Beverly Hills Hotel on the way home, setting the scene for the intoxicated incident that triggered her arrest.
“You’re an alcoholic who fell off the wagon and you pull into a bar?” Dr. Phil asked Richards, later challenging her choices as a mother, as three of her children looked on. “You are drunk in a bar, fighting with a cop,” Dr. Phil blasted, “That is not good mothering.”
Richards held onto the claim that she maintains everyday sobriety, commenting,
“I haven’t been working a program,” she said.”Living through this season on the show, sometimes it’s hard enough to get through it. The fans are very hard on me, and I went on Twitter to see what people were saying and it was just horrible.”
Her children feel differently, with her daughter Brooke noting that her mother’s arrest was “the best thing that could have happened.” Kim’s son Chad chimed in with a moment of brilliant insight when he unabashedly called out co-star Brandi Glanville, nailing her as a negative influence on his mother. “She’s toxic,” Chad said.
Can I hear an AMEN! The fireworks are set to blow today, and hopefully the truth will take center stage, as the Kim Richards’ battle with addiction rages on.
