Adios! After a brief stint as host of “Fashion Police,” Kathy Griffin has abruptly quit. The bombshell announcement came via Twitter, Thursday evening.

Although Griffin wasn’t specific about what led to her decision, she seemed deeply affected by the scandalous remarks made by her co-host, Giuliana Rancic,

“I thought I could bring my brand of humor to Fashion Police so that beautiful people in beautiful dresses could be teased when appropriate.” Griffin adds, “My brand of humor, while unrepentant and unafraid, is all about CONTEXT. There’s plenty to make fun of in pop culture without bringing people’s bodies into it.”

Giuliana Rancic came under fire days after the Oscars telecast for saying Disney star, Zendaya Coleman’s dreadlocks probably smelled of “patchouli … or weed.”

After Kelly Osbourne said adios to the show in February, rumors floated that Khloe Kardashian was in the running to replace her and Kathy was not a happy camper.

Now that Kathy is gone, this leaves Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski to carry the show on their own.

Who do you want to see replace Kathy Griffin and Kelly Osbourne? Do you think it’s time to cancel the show?

Never saw the show but i love kathy hope she founds a better platform

I thought Kathy was great on the show, but it was a creation of the one and ONLY Joan. Producer Melissa Rosenberg probably was not ready to let go. Now, maybe she’s had time to soak in the impact of it all and can finally move on.

I didn’t watch after Joan died. After the million offensive comments Kathy has made throughout her career about people, I doubt she is quitting because of one thing G said. It must be due to creative differences or because she didn’t want to work with the people on the show.

Joan was the Show……tough act to follow….let it RIP with Joan

    Kelly quit the show?

Could she be leaving because some fool hired NeNeanderthal to host?

    • I sincerely hope not! But if so, I would just have to close the fashion police chapter of my life and #LetItGo lol. I only just recently deleted Joan’s last episode from my dvr. That was tough!

What a shame. I thought Kathy was a perfect fit. Losing Kelly didn’t bother me greatly & she was sweet, though I thought Rancid should have bowed out as she was the cause of the whole fracas. Bring in Nene or Khloe K and I will never watch again.

    • Oooh if they brought in Nene, that would be so tragic. I seriously do not understand the allure of Nene? She is so mean and so rude and yet magically oblivious to her own vile actions. If anyone knows the psychological condition she has, feel free to share – is it just narcissism or what? It is beyond plain ole ignorance.

I could imagine producers thinking she might be the perfect big mouthed replacement, And…since she is a minority, she might be able to get away with saying more borderline offensive things – though never with the sharp wit or cleverness of either Joan or Kathy for that matter. Nene’s idea of wordplay is “Bloop!” or “I’m rich bitch” (hmmm…maybe she should hang out with Pettifleur from RHOMelbourne).

Still…I could see the producers going the Nene route.

I swear if FP brings in Nene, I WILL stop watching the show, as well if Khloe K is brought in. Can’t stand either one of them. Neither are comics NOR fashionistas; neither have ANYTHING to offer!

  • Kathy was the only candidate who could have come close to filing Joan Rivers’ manolos – a gargantuan task despite Joan’s lilliputian stature. Their same sense of snark at the absurdity of celebrity worship and lack of reverence for the pantheon of Hollywood gods should have made the transition relatively natural – or so one would have thought. But it wasn’t…I adored JR, and was definitely a Joan-ranger with an open mind to Kathy G, but something just wasn’t gelling on the set. The chemistry was off and there was no natural flow to the humor – it felt disjointed. Maybe Kathy thought she would get a lot more creative license when it came to joke writing. After all, she was hired for her bad girl/loose lips brand, but might not have had the same freedom of her legendary predecessor. Let’s not forget, that privilege to express herself was hard won over several decades and to some in Hollywood, poor Joan is still in the doghouse (oscar tribute snub).

While I think it is laudable that so much attention has been payed to the quasi-racist “braids” comment, as black womens’ hair has been subject to ridicule for far too long, I wonder if it was a well-timed kerfuffle that gave Kathy an excuse to exit stage right. If the show were really working and the cast getting along like one big happy family, I think Rancic’s public apologies and penance would have made all this blow over. A strong, cohesive show would have weathered the scandal.
