Teresa Giudice is squarely in her third month in federal prison, and this weekend brought a visit from her family, as evidenced by her eldest daughter Gia’s Twitter page. This certainly has to be a confusing time for the young teen, and leaving her mom in a facility in Danbury, Connecticut, evidently proved to be difficult for Gia, as expressed by her simple tweet, posted yesterday.

Parental incarceration can affect many aspects of a child’s life, including emotional and behavioral well-being, family stability and financial circumstances. According to the Bureau of Prisons statistics, school-age children of incarcerated parents exhibit school-related problems and problems with peer relationships. Such as poor grades or instances of aggression. Another school-based problem is that children are sometimes teased or ostracized by other children as a result of their parent’s incarceration.
Adolescence is hard enough, and an ever changing dynamic between a young girl and her mom, surely would be an added family stress. Gia felt the need to reach out to her Twitter followers for support, sharing her heart with strangers, after visiting her mother. The fallout continues.
