#MobWives Recap: Drita Sides with Natalie Guercio [Episode 10]
I love when the show opens to scenic images of NYC, because you know it’s the most peaceful the show will be. Drita and her family are back from vacation and they had a great time at Disney. Yeah, don’t think you’re getting a sneak peek at Lee on vacation there is no film and no pics (other than those with blurred faces). Drita wants the girls to make Lee a scrapbook, telling them how much their father has changed his old habits and lifestyle just for them. I’m seriously stumped because, DAMN, that’s a dad’s job, not the act of a superhero.
Ang, Drita, and Nat G are partying. Drita feels guilty for not trusting her new friend. Drita and Ang basically swear their loyalty to Nat G and then head out to the dance floor. Their hands are up in the air but they look as bored as I feel watching them. In an alternate universe (Staten Island) Renee and Nat D are getting together. Renee is invited to Nat D’s “Toys for Tots” Christmas party. The Thanksgiving dinner comes up and Renee discusses the apology from NatG, stating that they won’t be friends and won’t be able to get along until Karen receives an apology. They discuss Drita’s flip flopping and how she backed off her claims of ripping Nat G’s face off. Nat D calls Nat G out as a manipulator and believes she got to Drita. Sorry folks, but I think she’s right. In Drita’s shoes, NatG’s boohooing would have led to me giving her a tissue and putting her out on the stoop. Something about the way she operates raises my hackles.
Who did I piss off at VH1? Not only is there another Nat G scene, but we see her with her mother and the two are meeting up with London and his mother. Nat G jokes that they’re all getting together because she’s pregnant… her mother is not amused. Mama Guercio wants to know about wedding rings and if there will be children in the future. London’s mother is curious about what’s next, as well, and London talks about how Natalie’s mouth is a problem for him. Both mothers agree that she can be too much. Arctic winter blast, my ass, I have to open a window to stay awake – these people are boring.
CARLA! Renee drops by and brings her Mob Candy gifts. Carla gets the big invite to NatD’s party and tells us again how her old friend Drita dismissed her (Renee is bothered by it too, knowing how close they were in the past). We see clips of Carla standing up to Karen and Ramona to defend Drita. We also see clips of Carla and Drita discussing their disgust at the other women’s behavior. It’s hard to believe that Drita walked away from her, without saying a word.) Renee wants a sit down between the two to figure out what’s going on. I can’t imagine what VH1’s insurance rates are, given the outcomes of their “sit downs.” Carla wonders if Drita has a problem with her. She wants answers, especially since half of the fights she had in the past weren’t even her own, she fought for her “good friend’s” sake.
We’re at Lady Boss. Drita dropped the girls’ scrapbook off at Lee’s store as an early Christmas gift. She calls him and tells him she left something, asking him to find it. He loves it since he hasn’t seen half of the images in the book from when the girls were younger. It’s a thoughtful gift, and they even leave him a thank you letter for everything he’s done for them. I hope he never disappoints those girls again because it’s clear how happy they are to have their dad at home. Say what you will but Lee and Drita have the best relationship. Coming in a close second is the relationship with
Karen, a recently forgiven Storm, and Karina (whose name I thought was spelled Karena in other episodes). They seem to be functioning like a happy family. Given her relationship with her own father, I hope Storm is good at treating Karina as his own and helping to give her the family she deserves. He seems genuinely interested in her life. Just then Karen’s father calls – as he does at least one a week. It appears that he is eligible for early release because he is considered a non-violent drug offender. He plans to come back to New York to see a few people and tie up loose ends. I don’t know what that means but someone at VH1 acts as if they do, the music gets dark and loud.
THIS is what I get for breaking my New Year’s resolutions, already. Next up are Natalie and London headed to couples therapy. She’s rude and loud, as always, and we find out that they argue every day. The therapist has to remind Nat G about her tone. I can do solve the problem in a way the therapist can’t, I Fast Forward the bad, scary sounds… FFing doesn’t help much, I land on a
Drita and Ang shopping scene. Ang doesn’t tell Drita that she told Carla that Drita wasn’t a real friend. They bring up NatD’s party and swear their allegiance, again, and talk about what a great friend she is. It’s interesting to hear Drita talk about loyalty to a friend, given what happened with Carla. She compares the 20+ relationship with Carla, Renee, and Karen to her and Ang’s insta-friendship with Nat G and can’t understand why they won’t treat Nat G the same as Carla. They’ve decided that they’re done hearing their friend ripped by the other women.
“Toys for Tots” becomes a ***show. At least they raised money for the kids before throwing down their dignity on TV. If it matters, Carla, NatD, Renee, and Karen look great. Nat D is on a tear about Drita the flip-flopper. Ang shows up with her husband and vows to not let anyone talk about her friend. When Ang tells Nat D that Drita didn’t come, Nat D loses it. She extended a personal invitation and didn’t even get a text to let her know she wasn’t coming. She talks about how she supported Drita’s event.
Ang, in a TH, claims Nat D was there to stir trouble, not support anyone. Renee dismisses herself as the talk turns to Nat G. Ang flips out after Nat D flips out. Karen is flipped out that Ang is protecting a woman who attacked Karen and her family. Nat D reminds Ang what Nat G said about Karen.I am DYING at the hypocrisy of Ang citing Nat D’s ten minute friendship with Karen. Ang grabs Renee and decides to leave. It looks like, next week, something weird goes down between Nat D and a man, and then Nat D and Drita….Nat D has shined her brass balls and is going IN! She really doesn’t seem to fear anyone. She is also pulling out her phone… what evidence does she have to show about NatG????? The only exciting thing to happen in this episode occurs as part of the previews for the next episode? The hell!

I’m an exasperated soap fan who keeps hanging on – waiting for the daytime I once loved to return to its former glory! Hey, it doesn’t hurt to have a dream. I learned to love soaps thanks to my wonderful mother and grandmother. I’ll always have fond memories of daytime, most especially of ‘Another World’, my first stoap love. The ever great, but sadly defunct, daytime shows like Ryan’s Hope, Search for Tomorrow, The Doctors, Loving, and many others keep a special place in my heart, as well.
