Another day…another lawsuit.

This time around it’s “Real Housewives of New Jersey star, TeResssa Aprea. One of her former employees at “Angelo’s of Mulberry Street” is suing over wrongfully deprived overtime pay.

TeResssa is part-owner of the Little Italy eatery, has been hit with a class-action lawsuit by former workers who claim they were all stiffed on overtime pay and other wages.

Bashir Hajjar, a former bartender and Izet Jasaraj, a former waiter at Angelo’s jointly filed a lawsuit in U.S. district court in New York yesterday (2-17-2015). The suit makes many scathing claims against Teresa & Rino Aprea and other owners of the restaurant. Among the witheringly scornful claims: the defendants knowingly permitted employees to work more than 40 hours and up to 65 hours a week, the employees weren’t paid time-and-a-half for hours worked past 40.

The lawsuit states that Hajjar was,

“paid for seven hours of work per workday, regardless of how many hours he actually worked, which was regularly more than seven hours, and sometimes more than 10 hours a day.”

As further matter, the lawsuit claims, employees were required to wear uniforms that “required ironing, dry cleaning and/or other special treatment,” but the defendants “did not wash or maintain these uniforms” and didn’t reimburse employees for the cost of maintaining the uniforms.

TeResssa Aprea responded to claims in the lawsuit on Twitter, she tweeted “disgruntled worker #NOTRUTH”

The plaintiffs’ attorney, David Gottlieb of Wigdor Law, is demanding the Apreas pay up to $2500 per worker for unpaid wages and overtime, uniform cleaning costs, plus an unspecified amount of damages.

TeResssa Aprea is no stranger to the legal problems. As previously reported, her dad, Salvatore “Sal” Napolitano, served a 15-month prison sentence for shady business practices related to his construction company, ECCO Construction Inc.

According to court documents, on November 8, 1999, Salvatore “Sal” Napolitano, pled guilty to violating the “Clean Air Act” in connection with the illegal removal of asbestos-containing material during the conversion of a former Y.M.C.A. into an upscale apartment. As a result, untrained and undocumented Mexican workers were used to remove asbestos from boilers, piping and floor coverings at the building. The workers were locked in the building and were not provided with equipment to protect them from inhaling asbestos fibers. As a result of this crime, asbestos fibers were released into the air at the construction site where workers and others could inhale them. Inhalation of asbestos fibers can cause lung cancer, a lung disease known as “asbestosis,” and mesothelioma which is a cancer of the chest and abdominal cavities. Asbestos filled garbage bags were also illegally disposed of in various locations around New Haven. The case was investigated by EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection, and was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
