Claudia Jordan Nene Leakes

The Real Housewives of Atlanta” ended with a raunchy bang last night, with Claudia Jordan and NeNe Leakes getting into a nasty verbal smackdown. NeNe hit WAY below the belt during the spar, in a frantic attempt to articulately keep up with the rookie Housewife. Claudia Jordan sounds off in her Bravo blog today, but interestingly instead of rehashing the just aired shady battle, she lets us viewers in on the NeNe back story, giving us an inside peek at their history. Claudia begins by clarifying that she and NeNe have never been friends, and that her spotlighted ugliness came as no surprise.

“Sadly I’m not really surprised by NeNe’s ugly demeanor. This is a person that I, along with the rest of the world, have watched transform from the fun underdog to the mean girl, who now seems to go out of her way to be rude.  Quite frankly outside the hustle, I really don’t see any redeeming qualities about her personality that would make me want to spend time with her. The short time I have spent with her these last few months were draining.”

Claudia explains that she and NeNe first connected in 2009, when Leakes reached out to the newbie via Twitter, to unload a hosting gig in Atlanta. The event was surrounding New Orleans Saints player, Charles Grant, and NeNe was seeking to bow out, in order to not be seen at the party.

“When I followed back I got a direct message that NeNe wanted me to take her place hosting an event in Atlanta that she was scheduled to do, but for some reason could no longer be seen at for some reason.”

Claudia was free that weekend, so she took the job, but was surprised to arrive in town to meet Leakes in person, at a pool party. She wondered why NeNe was actually in town and still dumping the gig, but the two took photos, and NeNe was pleasant and friendly.

“We took a group photo by the pool and chatted and she was sweet and very complimentary. I wondered why she would give up the hosting gig, but still was in town — but hey that was none of my business.  The event went off without a hitch and was very classy and nice, and NeNe seemed very relieved to have been able to provide a substitute host for whatever reason she had to bow out of the affair.”

Claudia also reveals that she and NeNe have remained friendly and supportive on Twitter, as well as during various events and interviews where they have crossed paths.  It naturally puzzled her to have NeNe treat her dismissively when she joined the cast, as well as characterizing her as “thirsty”.  Was the shade simply about ‘team pretty’ jealousy?

“Hmmm after seeing how all this unfolded, the only thing I’m thirsty for is the real TEA about why she gave up this gig, because we all know Ms. Leakes is about her coins!”

Hmmm, indeed. It appears that Claudia had stepped into the middle of what rumors are made of. Kim Zolciak played a role in the drama when she outed NeNe for allegedly carrying on with Grant during her first marriage to Greg on an infamous episode of Watch What Happens Live, aired August 6th of 2009. Grant later confirmed the supposed involvement himself during his appearance on the RHOA (season 4 episode 5), filmed while dating then cast member, Marlo Hampton.  Wendy Williams even referred to Grant as NeNe’s post separation boyfriend. Watch a video clip below of Charles Grant saying he took her (NeNe) back to the hotel and it was a “Done dolla.”

Was NeNe initially just jealous and dismissive towards Claudia to thwart uncovering the back story of their meeting? NeNe should have left Nay Nay at home, because Claudia Jordan is obviously much more than just a pretty face.
