Phaedra Parks Leads Empowerment Rally in Atlanta
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star, Phaedra Parks, has found a way to get free positive press give back. The southern belle is spearheading a charity event called “Save Our Sons.” The event is taking place in Atlanta this weekend.
The event aims to empower young men in the community and serves to, according to a statement, “highlight the importance of supporting and encouraging African-American boys and men, offer resources to African-American males, celebrate the work of organizations engaged in programs that support the cause and inspire and motivate members of the community.”
The rally and conference will take place today and in addition to panel discussions with fellow TV personalities including Judge Mathis, will also include performances and a resource fair.
“African-American boys and men, particularly ones who have grown up fatherless and without positive male role models, are often in need of guidance, information and resources to be successful in life,” the mission statement on the press release notes. “It is important for individuals, businesses and local organizations to support the needs of African-American males who want to better their lives and become productive and positive members of their communities.”
