Apollo Nida and Phaedra

The new season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” is fast approaching, and just as curiosity brought viewers to the New Jersey franchise to see how Bravo would handle the Giudice criminal scenario, the same curiosity exists to see how the soon to be imprisoned Apollo Nida saga will play out on television screens across America.

Nida began his eight year prison sentence for fraud in September, and it came as no surprise to hear of his wife, Phaedra Parks, filing for divorce a month later. So how is Phaedra plotting to approach the crapstorm of dealing with an unchanged crook of a husband, the crucial necessity of distancing herself from any knowledge of Apollo’s shady shenanigans, while maintaining her tough to swallow, but hard fought southern belle image? Bravo has released a clip which reveals the behind the scenes happenings on Apollo’s sentencing day. Parks chose isolation in a hotel room with her mother and sons, reasoning that the separation from her husband would minimize any negative effects on the family that a media circus could bring. That’s certainly seems to be a logical strategy that slides nicely into phase one of her public effort to cut ties with Nida.  Nicely done, Phaedra.

Phaedra recently sat for an interview with Access Hollywood Live, where she shared her strategies…I mean feelings about how she perceives and plans to manage the split.

“This is not due to just him being incarcerated, it’s a culmination of things. We are better and healthier individuals now that we are apart.”

When asked about the genuine and underlying reasons for the break up, Parks expressed concern for her two young sons and assured the public of her undying love for their father, while skillfully evading the core and still unanswered questions.

“I don’t care to discuss the specifics.  There’s no benefit to mudslinging because we have two very young children. I want [my children] to look back and have them think she handled her affairs with dignity and class. I would never diminish my husband, whether we’re married or divorced. He will always be family. I will always love him. And we will always love our children.”

It will be interesting to see how Phaedra will maintain her lawyer, mortician, mother, southern belle, evasive wife of a crook, television persona.  My guess is that the viewer will see through it, and hopefully, the real and complex truth will surface.  I have no doubt that she will give it her best and shadiest shot.
