LA Hair Recap: A Tale of Two Cakes [Episode 10]

LA Hair

On this episode of “LA Hair,” it’s a big day at the salon. First, today is Lisa’s 21st birthday (wink-wink) and secondly, Naja won a place in the Guinness Book of World Records on the day before. So Kim orders two cakes to celebrate the occasions and Dontay quickly points something out to Kim. “Why would you order two cakes on the same day for two people who don’t like each other?”

Dontay…really? Yeah, stir that pot. He and Anthony feel Naja had her moment to shine the day before. It’s now Lisa’s turn – alone.

Naturally, being reminded that she does not like Naja sends Lisa walking off back to her station. Naja approaches Lisa to say she does not have a problem with her. Let’s make peace. Let us break bread, rather eat cake together. Too bad Lisa doesn’t feel the same way. A little birdie told her Naja has been saying some very nasty things about her.  Namely, she looks like a man. Welled up with anger, Lisa tells Naja what she’s heard and asks point blank if she’s looking like a man right now, “Do you see an Adam’s apple?”

Jersey girl, Naja has yet to learn the art of refraining from making snide comments, leans forward and says, “Yeah, kind of.”

Before you can say “wash and set,”, these two get to squabbing, windmilling, hair-pulling and fingernail yanking. Naja tops Lisa’s bun off her head and Naja loses a fingernail, costing her a trip to Urgent Care. That sure was a good amount of blood on Naja’s shirt. At first, I thought the chick lost a finger. But before Leah drives the bleeding Naja to the facility for medical treatment, Naja makes it clear that Kim Kimble Studio is not big enough for her and Lisa.  Ultimately, all this foolishness causes Kim to break down and cry. She can’t have clients coming in and being frightened off because they didn’t know they would be walking into a wrestling match. Never mind the day-to-day smack talk and arguing.

Lisa packs up her things and leaves, but is she gone for good this time? After all, she has left before. Oh, this didn’t have to be folks. However, let it be a lesson to everyone. Having two cakes in a room is evil and is the true source behind strife.

LA Hair

Lisa and Naja’s fight has worn out the other hair stylists to the point where they don’t feel like seeing the clients who are waiting on them to perform some hair magic.  So the new receptionist has no choice but to report this mutiny to Kim and Leah and this latest rebellious act raises more than Kim’s dandruff.  It raises up her ire.  If y’all can’t take the heat then step away from the curling iron!  Get to work or get to steppin’. Follow Lisa’s example.

Still stirring the pot, Dontay meets with Angela to give an update on the Kim Kimble Khronicles, which usually has nothing to do with Kim but everything to do with her wacky staff. Case in point: The Lisa vs. Naja Smackdown.  Dontay can’t wait to spill the juice to Angela who is enjoying every little detail. Why wouldn’t she?  Guess who told Lisa that Naja said she looked like a man?  It was Angela.

Drama Queen! That's me. No, not personally. I just rule the TV set when it comes to drama series, that's all. However, I do try to reign over a few sitcoms as well. I am a freelance writer who loves to recap shows for your pure enjoyment with a little bit of funny mixed in. There would be a real danger of me becoming a full-time couch potato (with the couch being the throne) if it were not for my loyal subjects: DVR and On-Demand to do my bidding.

This show isn’t quite as bad as Love & Hipity Hop Atl, when you can ex[ect a fight almost every episode, but it’s getting there. Where That scene with Kim crying was about as fake as anything I’ve seen on this show. They probably didn’t show her face because she couldn’t hold back bursting into laughter.

    • Hi Mike….happy Saturday!

OMG!….yes about Kim’s crying. But that fight was REAL. I like Lisa but she was out of line putting her hands on the Oompa Loompa. The Oompa Loompa is messy….always running her toxic mouth about someone but as adults we have to learn to let that nonsense roll off our backs. Lisa is way too emotional to be working with the public.

      • Michael

Happy Saturday to you too. I agree about Oompa. She should have been fired after the first fight. Did they ever explain about why Kim didn’t move into the new huge salon she was planning on getting last season. I remember on the premier they talked about how they had the old place remodeled.

        • I wondered about the status of the new salon as well. Maybe she has it for her real clients and uses this place to film the show??? Who knows.

What gets me is Naja fought Angela at her salon and that was OK but she’s the victim after this fight? Kim and her sister has some serious double standards.

          • Michael

Maybe Naja is the Tamra Barney of LA Hair, and she thinks it’s her JOB to start trouble. I’m sure the Kimbles are happy with that as long as it gets the ratings, just like I’m sure Andy is happy with Tamra doing her JOB. He just didn’t like her saying it on his show.

BTW Doc, thanks for posting this fabulous recap. I hope you have a great week-end! 🙂

        • Hi Lorn! Drama Queen wrote this fantastic recap. All compliments go to her.

Hope all is well and you’re enjoying your summer!

          • Lorn

My compliments to the chef. 😉 Thanks. I am having a great summer and you?

          • I’m doing well, thank you! Enjoying my summer with the kiddos.

  • RealitytvJunkie

Lisa can’t consider herself a strong confident woman when she allows the words of people to affect her on a deep emotional level. Lisa’s behavior in hitting Naja was a childish move.

  • Lorn

I’m glad Lisa is gone. Naja needs to go next. I was thinking Lisa had moved beyond the first physical encounter but I see hood logic is embedded in her psychology. I don’t know how she is going to get a job if this is how she handles these issues– maybe that’s why she only does Z-list celebs, cause half the people in her chair I’ve never heard of.

Naja is gross too and I admit part of me didn’t feel sorry for her. She starts too much ish’ and expects to come over and be a straight up hypocrite. Sit your cruella deville, obese smurf ass down! She is the messiest one on this show.
