In anticipation of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” season 6 debut, the cast of the show have been busy on a media tour promoting the new season. Rosie Pierri, sister of Kathy Wakile is doing her part and sat down with the site Wetpaint.

Rosie Pierri spills the tea on the RHONJ season 6 drama, her dramatic weight loss and her lifestyle changes that involve giving up smoking.

Check out the interview below:

We’ve been so impressed by your weight loss. What inspired you to make the change?

Rosie Pierri: Well, I was working on that before I started doing the show with my sister. It’s a process. What inspired me to do more was when we took the trip out to Arizona. I had a little bit of a meltdown out there. It kind of made me feel like whatever I wanted to change about myself, I could do. I guess I had to change some of the stuff on the inside, first, and then I was able to start chiseling away at my appearance and my health and everything else.

My first step was to kick the habit of smoking cigarettes. I did that while I was out there in Arizona. When I came back I decided to start going to the gym. I was always a pretty healthy eater, but my metabolism doesn’t work like everyone else’s. I got that fat gene, I guess, you know what I’m saying? The chubby gene [laughs].  It’s a friggin’ bad gene, though.

It just makes it that much harder.

And I still gotta work hard, every day. I go to the gym every morning. And I’m sure a lot of thin people do the same, I’m not saying that they don’t. To get to your goals, you have to eat right you have to constantly remind yourself to drink enough water, to take your vitamins. All those things that I kind of neglected because of work and stuff like that. I work a lot and I always made that an excuse, but I’m done making excuses.

What do you think was the key to your success.

I think it’s all in your mind, in what you think you can accomplish. I think that once you set your mind to something — and I’d always been that way, but I kind of lost track. I have a pretty good willpower, and I’m a fighter. I think the best thing to do is tell it to other people, and say you’re going to do something, and you do it public. Because now you’re being accountable for the things you said you’re going to do.

My family was after me for a while about smoking. And I made a promise to myself that in 2013 I was going to stop smoking. And I told my family the same thing. I said, “give me until 2013, and I’ll stop.” So when I was out in Arizona I said well, I’m out here, the air is fresh, I’m in the middle of the desert, it’s a beautiful place, I’m away from work so I don’t have any stress or pressure, and that night I said, this is it. My last cigarette. And the next morning I had two left in my pack. I looked at them and I said “I could smoke these two, or I could just throw them away.” And I just threw them away, and I never picked up a cigarette. I do cheat a little bit with the e-cigarette, so that’s helping me, too. I always kid around and say alright, well I half quit smoking. But it’s still something, and I’m proud of myself over it. It was a hard thing for me to do.

Another thing that helped was that when I hit a plateau with the weight loss, I started looking into this company that helps and manages your weight loss. It’s called ViSalus. It’s helping me break through that plateau. They supply me with a high protein cereal for breakfast, and then they have a whole bunch of different things that you can eat throughout the day. It’s meal supplements, which is great for me because I’m big on skipping meals because I don’t have the time sometimes. So I have a high protein shake. They’re really good. These shakes from them are unbelievable, and I’ve tried different ones from other place, and I’ve never liked a lot of them, but this one in unbelievable. it’s working. And what’s really great about it is that for every 10 you lose they donate a meal to hungry child, which is awesome. If anybody’s interested, I’m doing a 90 day challenge, and people can join me.

And I know you were just at a Just Salad opening.

That place is fantastic! They have a bunch of different locations in Manhattan and a new location in West Caldwell, NJ, that’s the one I was just at. It’s totally awesome. They give you a bowl, and you can either build your own salad, or you have salads to choose from. I like the build your own because I’m kind of picky. They have all low-calorie dressings that are phenomenal. I just had a horseradish chive one it was delicious. All different kinds of lettuce and spinach and then they have all your different toppings. Beans, carrots, celery, corn —anything you can imagine, it’s there. And then they have chicken or steak or falafel. Everything’s real fresh and healthy. It’s a really awesome place I love it here.

We’re excited to see you back on RHONJ Season 6. Can you tease it for us?

You’re going to see a lot of new faces this year, and some old faces from past seasons. You’ve got Dina coming back, and you’ve got the twins and Amber. I can’t really say too much, but I can say that I think everybody’s going to have to hold onto their seats a little bit! Get ready for a ride.

You’re going to be surprised by how much drama is going to be going around. Whoever wants the drama, they’re going to love it. Whoever doesn’t like it, hopefully they get to see some other fun stuff in there. You’re going to see some stuff about me, and Kathy and Rich will be making an appearance here and there. I think everybody’s going to enjoy it. there’s a good mix.

What else do you have going on this summer?

On Monday, July 14 Kathy Rich and I are going to be having dinner at DiPaolo’s in New Jersey. If people  want to come and hang out tickets are available [Ed note: See flyer to the left]. You can just call the restaurant, we have dinner and dessert and we get to hang out. We’re looking forward to meeting a lot of people there in a different part of New Jersey that we’ve never been to, so we’re excited about that.

I don’t have anything coming out, but I want to mention my sister does have her cookbook for desserts, called Indulge, coming up. Pre-order in September. It’s going to be awesome. She took so much time with every recipe. I see her slaving in her kitchen making sure everything is perfect. She has great dessert recipes lined up for everyone, and with every recipe there’s a nice little story about our family, about her family, about her in-laws, about my aunts and uncles. Everybody’s going to really enjoy the books. I know they’re going to enjoy the book.
