Convicted felon and star of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” Teresa Giudice pled guilty to several fraud charges back in March and is facing prison time and huge fines.

Teresa’s sentencing was delayed last month following the death of her father-in-law, Frank Giudice and she will now have to wait until September 23, 2014 to learn her fate. The troubled and broke RHONJ star spoke to InTouch about possibly going to prison and being separated from her four daughters.

“No one can ever prepare themselves to go to prison. More importantly, how could I ever prepare myself to be away from my kids? It’s too terrifying for me to even think about.”

Teresa expressed that her biggest fear is having to go to prison and leave her daughters, Gia, 13, Gabriella, 9, Milania, 8, and Audriana, 4. Perhaps she should have thought about those fears before she willingly defrauded banks out of millions. Should the public have sympathy for the convicted felon because she’s a mother? That would mean all criminals who are parents get a pass by virtue of possessing the title of “parent.” That’s ludicrous.

Teresa told the magazine:

“I’ve had many sleepless nights worrying about being separated from my family. My family is my everything.”

The reality star also conveyed that the shame and embarrassment of her and her husband, Joe’s criminal activity has brought the family closer. She dished:

“Especially with the death of Joe’s dad. Nonno Franco” suddenly passed at only 63 years old. But what does not kill you makes you stronger. I am here 100 percent for my poor honey and he for me.”

This interview, published on the heels of the RHONJ season six premiere strikes me as another ploy for the public’s sympathy and reeks of exploitation of her family and their tragedies.

Teresa allowed Bravo cameras to film intimate and private moments of her children crying and visibly shaken by the news of their parents going to prison.

In the following clip, Teresa and Joe Giudice are seen discussing their legal situation with their daughter, Gia. The trailer shows the couple talking to Gia, who tearfully told Teresa“I obviously know what’s going on.  Gia also told her father that she hopes one day to be a “Criminal lawyer,” and Joe responds with, “Good, we’ll need it.”

The Real Housewives of New Jersey” season 6 premieres Sunday, July 13 at 8p.m. EST.
