In recent weeks, The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Phaedra Parks and her husband Apollo Nida have been in the rumormill regarding their marriage being in trouble. Apollo has been weathering serious legal issues and did a recent interview, (read it here) where he pretty much confirmed the rumors. Below are highlights from Apollo’s interview:
Regarding his previous 6 year stint in prison:
“I studied three religions when I was down: Buddhism, Islam and Christianity. I also led a ministry when I was in there, like a congregation.”
Regarding the death of his mother:
“My mom OD’d on heroin, actually in front of me when I was about 7”
Regarding Phaedra and the current state of his marriage:
“I really admired everything that she did as a woman. I think that we have lost sight of the true picture, which is that we did take an oath to God and we did build a family and a brand. Whatever has come of this reality fiasco, we have had two beautiful children, and at the end of the day, I only wish her the best.”
Regarding the future of his marriage:
“I can’t say if it’s going to last. But I hope that it does…I definitely love her. I’ve grown to love her more.”
Regarding his “career” and the fraud charges he’s facing:
“I don’t really get nervous. And this is not just boasting or bragging. Phaedra – I’m sure she’s nervous because at the end of the day, I’m putting my career in jeopardy.”
Phaedra is speaking out and did an interview to quiet the rumors. Phaedra told InTouch:
“[The wedding] was such a great time for us. So at this point in my life, a vow renewal would be nice.”
Apollo has been facing serious legal issues. The government charged Apollo with bank fraud and aggravated identity fraud in January 2014. Apollo is currently on state parole for a 2004 racketeering conviction and awaiting a trial or plea deal on the current fraud charges from January. However, Phaedra tells InTouch, she’s found a silver lining as they await his day in court.
“I’ve come to learn the challenges of being married, but also the joys of being married.”
Phaedra’s interview does little to demonstrate the rumors are false. In fact, it reinforces them. This is a feeble attempt to put water on a burning fire but the public is not as dumb as her husband.
