In this season’s Real Housewives of New York, Aviva Drescher and Carole Radziwill are currently embroiled in an argument over ghostwriters. Their feud has been dubbed #BookGate by the fans and has taken on a life of it’s own.

Aviva Drescher has said “the word on the street” is that Carole used a ghostwriter to pen her memoir What Remains, about her late husband’s battle with cancer. But Carole Radziwill, the “professional writer” didn’t take kindly to the accusation. As a matter of fact, she was ready to “cut a bitch” pissed off and can’t stop talking about it.

The alleged ghostwriter of #BookGate is Bill Whitworth. A legendary editor who’s worked at some of the nation’s most revered publications.

Carole overreaction to Aviva’s accusation leads us to believe their is some truth to Aviva’s claim.

Carole took to her Bravo blog, to once again tell the world she did not use a ghostwriter. Carole claims she spoke to Bill Whitworth and here’s what he had to say about the accusation:

“I told him the story. He laughed and said ‘I would have been honored to have ghostwritten your book. It was beautifully written.’ Bill is not a writer, he is an editor. Bill advised me to ‘explain to the young lady [Aviva Drescher] the difference between an editor and a writer I’m sure she’ll understand.'”

A snippet of Mr. Whitworth’s resume:

  • Started his writing career covering the tumultuous 1960s for the New York Herald Tribune, writing about everything from Robert Kennedy’s U.S. Senate race to the Beatles’ first U.S. appearances.

  • He was associate editor of the venerable New Yorker before spending twenty years as the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic Monthly. He is still the Editor Emeritus for The Atlantic.

  • He has since turned to book editing, and edited Anjelica Huston’s memoir A Story Lately Told (slated to come out this fall). Huston has said of him, “He is a man of great integrity and taste.”

  • He’s from Little Rock, Arkansas, which is probably what caused Anjelica Huston to also say of him, “He sounds just like Bill Clinton.” Now retired, Bill presently lives there.
