RHONJ: Joe Giudice DMV Fraud Trial Postponed Again

Joe Guidice CourtReal Housewives of New Jersey star, Joe Giudice was scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Jan 13, to face charges on driver’s license fraud.  Many speculated about the circumstances of the trial since news outlets did not report sightings of Joe at the Paterson courthouse on Monday. According to Northjersey.com, the state trial against Joe has been postponed once again.

Many were under the impression, the DMV trial was scheduled to start on Monday, Jan 13. However, Monday’s scheduled court date was yet another status conference to set a trial date and file motions,  not the actual start of the trial.

As of late Tuesday (01-14-2014) evening, a new court date had not been scheduled.

This new delay is due to calendar conflicts of  Joe’s attorney, Miles Feinstein. Feinstein is currently preoccupied conducting jury selection for an upcoming murder case.

How many court dates to “set a trial date” and “file motions” will this case undergo? Will Joe ever get his day in court?

Joe’s attorney, Miles Feinstein appears highly confident his client will be exonerated considering he’s rejected all plea deals presented by the prosecutor. If convicted of DMV charges, Joe could face up to 10 years in the slammer. That outcome could result in Joe serving time for the DMV state charges when his federal fraud trial begins in April. The likelihood of Joe appearing in court to face his federal charges clothed in prison attire–o’range jumpsuit and shackles– is probable.

Joe-and-Teresa-Giudice-How-Much-Money-FraudIn my imaginary playful mind, I picture Joe and Teresa feasting on a romantic “celebratory” dinner of dry aged kobe ribeye steak, sipping on Chateau Margaux 1787, basking in blissful ignorance over their (temporary) victory and Joe saying “fuggedaboutit” as they toast the night away. The scene takes place at the Chart House restaurant in New Jersey overlooking the New York harbor. Pardon my cheap harlequin lavatory literary moment — I simply could not resist!

On a serious note, I’m thoroughly disgusted by the continuous postponements in this case. In addition, I’m not buying the numerous delays as scheduling conflicts or bottlenecks in the system. According to a source, the Passaic County prosecutor’s office is handling this case with kid gloves. I will be paying close attention to further developments surrounding the proceedings. Stay tuned.
